A Celebration on Canvas: My Largest Wedding Painting for a Couple in Amsterdam
"Some moments don’t just pass, they deserve to live forever."
There are weddings, and then there are moments within weddings that stay with you long after the day is over. Moments that carry so much emotion, joy, and energy, that they almost ask to be preserved in a different way.
This painting was exactly that.
Recently, I had the honour of creating the largest wedding artwork I have painted to date, a 120 x 100 cm oil painting on canvas, framed in a refined shadow gap frame, and finished with delicate touches of sprayed gold. A true statement piece, created for a couple now based in Amsterdam.
But what makes this piece even more special is the story behind it.

From Albania to Amsterdam — A Shared Vision
The wedding itself took place in Albania and was beautifully captured by my sister, Melanie, founder of Kuenzli Photography. Her ability to document emotions so authentically created the perfect foundation for what was to come.
The Bride and I began a thoughtful and detailed conversation about one essential question:
Which moment truly represents your wedding?
As you can imagine, this wasn’t an easy decision.
Choosing the Moment That Feels Like Forever
We looked through many images together, revisiting different parts of the day: quiet, intimate moments, elegant portraits, and emotional highlights.
But in the end, one image stood out.
It was the moment right after the ceremony.
The bride and groom walking through their guests, surrounded by laughter, celebration, and pure happiness. Their closest family and friends cheering, smiling, and throwing white petals into the air, a scene full of movement, lightness, and life.
A moment where everything felt effortless.
A moment where joy was not just visible, but contagious.
And most importantly: a moment that, years from now, will still make them smile.
The Art of Capturing Emotion
This painting was created using premium oil on canvas, a medium that allows depth, softness, and richness in a way that feels timeless.
Over the course of approximately 30 hours, I carefully built the composition, balancing movement and stillness, light and shadow, detail and atmosphere.
The addition of subtle gold accents was a conscious choice: to enhance the celebratory feeling and bring a soft, luminous quality to the piece, almost like a memory glowing from within.

Because this is what wedding art is about.
Not just recreating a photograph, but interpreting emotion.
More Than a Painting
For me, creating wedding paintings is never just about technique or aesthetics.
It is about understanding why a moment matters.
This piece was created to be more than a visual memory. It was created to become part of their home, their daily life, a constant reminder of joy, connection, and the people who shared that day with them.
A reminder of why they celebrated.
A reminder of what truly matters.

AAAAAND: Why This Moment Matters
In a world where thousands of images are taken and often forgotten on our phones, there is something deeply meaningful about slowing down and transforming a single moment into a piece of art.
Something that doesn’t just document, but lives, breathes, and tells a story.
And perhaps that is the real beauty of it.

Final Thoughts:
This painting holds a very special place in my heart, not only because of its size, but because of the energy it carries.
It is joyful. It is alive. And it reflects exactly what I believe wedding art should be:
A feeling you can return to, again and again.
The making-of video will be coming soon and will be published on my website!
