This wedding felt a little like stepping into another century. 🇮🇹🎨🕯️

I left Rome and drove through the beautiful Italian countryside towards Tuscania, where I finally arrived at the incredible Abbazia di San Giusto.

The bride had chosen the historic chapel as the setting for her Live Wedding Painting, so I arrived early to study the architecture, light and perspective and started painting while the chapel was still completely quiet.

A few hours later, the same space was filled with guests for the most romantic ceremony. 🤍 Afterwards, everyone moved into the courtyard for aperitivo while I created a few live guest illustrations before returning to my main mission: the oil painting.

I knew from the beginning that this artwork couldn’t be finished in one day. The architecture is incredibly detailed, and the atmosphere especially all that beautiful candlelight 🕯️ deserves time.

What I created yesterday is the foundation. Back in my Basel studio, I’ll work much more realistically into the architecture, light, shadows and candles to bring the entire scene to life.

Definitely one of my biggest artistic challenges this summer and I already know this one is going to be very special.

Italy was chapter one. 🇮🇹

Some wedding days have a feeling you wish you could bottle up forever. ✨

This one, in the heart of Switzerland, felt soft, joyful and completely alive 🙂‍↔️ filled with little glances, warm embraces, movement, laughter and all those fleeting moments happening in between.

As a Live Wedding Painter, I get to experience the day while I paint it.

I watch. I listen. I notice.

The way the light falls across the venue.
The flowers moving gently in the breeze.
The people gathering around the couple.
The atmosphere changing as the celebration unfolds.

And little by little, all of those impressions find their way onto my canvas.

Because for me, live wedding painting isn’t about creating a perfect copy of one single moment.

It’s about capturing how the day felt.

I want the finished painting to hold something of the life that surrounded it ✨✨✨ so that years from now, when the couple looks at it, they don’t just remember what their wedding looked like.

They remember the warmth.
The people.
The movement.
The joy.

A memory, painted while it was still happening. 🤍

Remember the guest book I painted at the last wedding?

After the wedding, I took the canvas back to my studio and carefully painted every single guest who had been sketched during the celebration, preserving all the signatures, little messages and memories from that day.

The final piece measures an incredible 190 × 40 cm, making it the longest painting I’ve ever created. 🤍

Nearly two meters of memories, filled with the people who came together to celebrate one very special couple.

What started as a blank canvas at their wedding became a completely unique piece of art 🥳 one that tells the story of their day and can now live in their home for years to come.

Not a guest book hidden away on a shelf.

A piece of their wedding they can see every single day. ✨

A guest book you’ll actually hang on your wall... 🤍

I’ve been dreaming about this idea for a long time, and now I finally got to bring it to life.

Instead of a traditional guest book, every guest is hand-sketched directly onto a 1.70-meter canvas scroll, with the bride and groom beautifully illustrated in the center. Throughout the celebration, everyone signs beneath their own portrait, becoming a permanent part of the artwork.

After the wedding, I take the canvas back to my studio, where I carefully paint every illustration, stretch the canvas onto a professional wooden frame, and transform it into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece the couple can proudly display in their home for the rest of their lives.

I wanted to create something that is more than a guest book—something interactive, meaningful, and filled with the love of every single person who celebrated that special day.

And this is only the beginning... Part 2 is coming later this week, where I’ll show you the finished artwork! ✨

Not every wedding guest receives their illustration during the celebration… especially at larger weddings. ✨

To make sure every portrait receives the same attention and level of detail, I carefully complete the remaining illustrations in my studio after the wedding.

Each brushstroke is refined by hand. Every expression, every little detail, and every color is finished with the same love and care as if I had painted it live.

Once each illustration is complete, I package it beautifully in protective tissue paper, seal it with my signature wax seal, and prepare it for its journey to its new home.

As a final touch, I lightly mist the packaging with my favorite Gucci floral perfume @floragorgeousgardenia . A small detail that makes opening the envelope feel even more special. Because I believe that receiving art should be an experience, not just opening a package.

Some of the most beautiful wedding memories are created after the wedding day. 😏✨

The day after Alex & Zel’s celebration in the heart of Provence, their pool party became an unforgettable creative experience. Each guest painted a 20 × 20 cm terracotta tile, filling it with symbols, meaningful words, little illustrations, and personal memories from the weekend.

Together, these individual artworks became one beautiful installation that Alex & Zel will take home to Australia, a lasting reminder of everyone who shared their special celebration.

One of my little packages finally arrived safely this week, and my lovely client sent me these beautiful photos while unwrapping it. 🤍✨

It honestly makes me just as happy to design the packaging as it does to create the artwork itself. Every detail is prepared with love, because I want the experience to feel special from the very first moment.

Each package is wrapped in soft blush pink, sealed with my stickers (including my favourite one: “This package is so happy to see you too!” 💕), carefully protected for its journey, and thoughtfully presented.

For every original Couple Portrait, I also include a signed Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring that your artwork remains a unique, collectible piece for generations to come.

Before I ever touch my watercolors, every portrait begins with a hand-drawn pencil sketch. I carefully study the reference photo, capturing every little detail, expression, and emotion before slowly bringing the artwork to life.

In this reel, you’ll see the beautiful photo I chose of Amanda and her husband, followed by the moment I begin painting her dress with shimmering watercolor pigments. Watching a blank sheet of paper transform into a meaningful piece of art is one of my favorite parts of the creative process.

This illustration is a personal gift from me to Amanda, a small way of saying thank you. ✨

What happens after the wedding? 🤍🎨

The celebration may be over, but my work continues in the studio.

After every live wedding illustration event, I create a hand-painted watercolor portrait of the newlyweds as a heartfelt thank-you for inviting me to be part of one of the most meaningful days of their lives. This portrait is my gift to them, a small surprise to celebrate their love and to thank them for their trust and support.

Together with the finished guest illustrations, it is carefully framed in a white frame and shipped to their home.

Any guest portraits I couldn’t complete during the wedding are lovingly finished in my studio. Every illustration is then professionally photographed and filmed before being uploaded to a private online gallery. The couple can easily share this gallery with their guests, allowing everyone to download their illustration and relive the beautiful memories of the day.
Because it’s not only about creating portraits for the guests… it’s about celebrating the couple who made it all possible.

This summer, I had the privilege of traveling to Austria to create a live wedding painting as a complete surprise for the bride and groom. They had no idea I would be there until they spotted me at their reception, painting their wedding day in real time.

For the next five hours, they watched their story slowly come to life on canvas, alongside their family and friends. The most emotional moment came at the end of the evening, when I revealed the painting. Their reaction was everything an artist could ever hope for: complete surprise, joy, and genuine emotion.

Now the artwork is back in my studio in Switzerland, where I’ll spend the next days refining every detail, adding depth, light, and the finishing touches before it becomes their forever keepsake.

There’s something people rarely see about being a Live Wedding Painter.

Before every wedding, proposal, or celebration, there’s always a little nervousness. Every event is unique. Every couple has a once-in-a-lifetime story, and there are no second chances. You carefully plan every detail, check your materials one last time, watch the weather, think about the light, the timeline, and quietly hope everything unfolds beautifully.

Then the moment arrives.

Hours of painting, observing, capturing emotions, meeting wonderful people, and turning fleeting moments into something that will last forever.

And the next morning… everything changes.

The pressure is gone, replaced by gratitude, excitement, and a heart full of inspiration. It’s the feeling of knowing you were part of someone’s most meaningful day.

Now comes one of my favourite parts: returning to my studio in Switzerland, where I carefully complete the oil painting with all the small details, depth, and emotion it deserves before it begins its journey to its new home.

What is it really like to be a Live Wedding Illustrator? 🎨✨

People often imagine that I simply sit down and paint.

But the truth is, I’m constantly observing.

I notice the little things most people don’t even realize they’re doing. A grandmother holding her granddaughter’s hand. Friends laughing so hard they forget the camera is there. A quiet glance between two people during cocktail hour. The way a dress moves in the summer breeze. The golden light just before sunset.

Throughout the day, I photograph guests, chat with them, and capture fleeting moments that might otherwise disappear.

Back in my studio, each illustration comes to life one brushstroke at a time. Every portrait is painted by hand with watercolor, transforming a brief moment into a lasting memory.

One of my favorite parts is seeing guests discover not only their own illustration, but also a complete group portrait where everyone from the wedding comes together again in a single piece of art.

It’s more than painting people.

It’s preserving the atmosphere, the emotions, and the story of a day that can never be repeated.

And I still feel incredibly grateful that I get to call this my job. 🤍
